The Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz is looking for restaurants who want to participate in the Second Annual Culinary Mushroom Week January 5 – January 14, 2018 (tying in with the 44th Annual Fungus Fair being held on Friday, Jan 12th – Sunday, Jan.14th, 2018 at Louden Nelson Community Center).
Share a favorite or a new menu item that explores the many wonderful ways that mushrooms delight and inspire the culinary world. Expose your customers to the diverse mushrooms available in our area by highlighting them on your menu for one week.
As a popular Santa Cruz tradition, in an area known for its unique Mushroom habitat with over 250 species represented, the three-day Fungus Fair draws over 3,500 people from all over the US, the Bay Area and beyond. Hundreds of species of local fungi are presented in a forest themed display, bringing in visitors who are curious about mushroom identification, cultivation and cooking. The Fair showcases Mycologists and world renown speakers in the mushroom world, chef cooking demonstrations, vendors, an after- hours mushroom dinner, a gallery of mushroom art and a taxonomy panel for identification of fungi.
Include the Mushroom menu item that you will be adding. You can offer just one item or add a mushroom dish for each course-appetizer, entrée, dessert. Highlight your menu item(s) from Jan. 5th to Jan. 14th, 2018 as a “Culinary Mushroom Week” featured signature dish or menu.
Contribute to getting the mushroom mania ‘sporing’ through your social media channels and make sure to tag #fungusfederationofsantacruz and #santacruzfungusfair. Your restaurant will also be given Fungus Fair ‘promo’ cards: when a customer selects and pays for your Fungus Federation Culinary Mushroom Week menu item you will give them a copy of their receipt stapled to a Fungus Fair promo card with the mushroom menu item and date circled to inspire new and old mushroom enthusiasts to attend the Fungus Fair and get $1.00 off when they present the card with your restaurant receipt.
