2019 MLK March for the Dream
January 21 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm
Welcome to the NAACP Santa Cruz County Branch and the Santa Cruz Police Department’s 2019 MLK March For the Dream – Justice. Equality. Love. The community is invited to join the march in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In the summer of 1963, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of bright days of justice, when the nation would rise up to fulfill its promise of equality, and love would light the darkness. With his words and actions throughout his life, Dr. King taught us that to achieve that dream, we must always walk together, and we must always march ahead. Now, on the 90th anniversary of his birth, join us. March for justice. March for equality. March for love.
March for the Dream!
The community is invited to join the march in honor of Dr. King. The march will begin at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Santa Cruz starting on Cathcart Street between Cedar Street and Pacific Avenue. Staging begins at 9:00 a.m. We will march down Pacific Avenue to Church Street to the Civic Auditorium. There we will convene for speeches and family-friendly activities.
The Association of Faith Communities will accept donations of new socks for their SPIN (Socks for People In Need) program at the staging sight and at the Civic.
Interested in volunteering? We’d love to work with you! The March would not be possible without the amazing group of volunteers that come together to make the day a success. We need people for a wide variety of tasks ranging from greeting guests and staging the march to directing traffic.
Volunteers can register here!
Groups and Individuals
We invite community groups/clubs/congregations and individuals to walk with us. Groups who will march together must submit a registration form which includes a participation waiver form.
