Hospitality Program

In 2000 the DTA took on the responsibility of providing staffing for the Hospitality Guide Program (HGP). The DTA receives compensation from the Downtown Management Corporation (DMC) for this program. The HGP’s mission is to assist in promoting a clean, safe, and friendly atmosphere for shoppers, residents, employees and visitors. This mission is accomplished in the following ways:

 
  • Provide information and directions to shoppers, visitors and residents alike.
  • Provide a visible presence in the downtown area and assist in maintaining compliance with municipal codes by using educational outreach.
  • Assist merchants in dealing with municipal code violations that they encounter on a daily basis such as noise, graffiti, and aggressive panhandling.
  • The HGP service area includes Pacific Avenue between Laurel Street on the south and Water Street on the north as well as the side streets ending on Front Street and Cedar Streets.
