The City of Santa Cruz has seventeen parking lots in the downtown area. Thirteen of them are free, with time limits The other four of them are pay parking. The map below shows the locations of the parking lots. For information about a particular lot, click on the number of the lot.
Free Downtown Parking on Holidays
The no charge time limited parking lots and metered parking are not enforced on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Daily Parking Permits
Daily parking permits are available at the Parking Office in the Locust Garage (124 Locust Street). These permits cost $2.00/day. Daily parking permits are for the River Street Garage upper two floors. Daily permits allow you to park on the permit parking levels and can be purchased in advance.
Permits are available for use in any 12 hour (blue poles) downtown meters for $60 per quarter.

Soquel/Front Garage Pay Parking
The Soquel/Front Parking Garage is located at the corner of Soquel Avenue and Front Street. The lot is open from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., seven days a week except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Permits cost $31 per month. Click here for hourly rates.
Lot 2: Cedar Street between Union and Center
The Cedar Street Parking Lot is located on Cedar Street between Union and Center Streets in downtown Santa Cruz. The lot is no charge and is open 24 hours a day. It has a three hour time limit, Monday-Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Locust Garage Pay Parking
The Locust Garage is located at the corner of Cedar Street and Locust Street in Downtown Santa Cruz. The lot is open from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. seven days a week except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Permits cost $31 per month. Click here for hourly rates.
Lot 3: Cedar Street Garage Free Parking
The Cedar Street Parking lot is located at the corner of Cedar Street and Church Street. This parking lot is no charge and is open 24-Hours a day. This garage has a 3-hour time limit, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The garage has no time limits on Sundays. Some spaces in the upper floor are reserved by signs for permit parking only. Permits cost $75 per quarter.
Lot No. 4: Cathcart Free Parking Lot
The Cathcart Parking Lot is located at the corner of Cedar Street and Cathcart Street. It is free and is open 24 hours a day. It has a 3-hour time limit, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot No. 5: The Calvary Church Pay Parking Lot
The Calvary Church Parking Lot is located next to the Calvary Epsicopal Church, at the corner of Center and Lincoln Streets. It is a paid parking lot, with a $1.00 fee for all day parking. The fee is charged Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sunday. A portion of the lot is permit only. Permits cost $48 per quarter.
Lot No. 6: The Civic Auditorium Pay Parking Lot
The Civic Auditorium Parking Lot is located on Church Street (between Center and Chestnut Streets). It contains two-hour and twelve-hour time limit parking meters. The two-hour time limit meters (orange poles) are 25 cents per hour, while the twelve-hour time limit parking meters (blue poles) are 15 cents per hour. Parking meters operate from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday - Sunday, everyday.
Lot No. 7: The Front/Cathcart Free Parking Lot
The Front/Cathcart Parking Lot is located at the corner of Front and Cathcart Streets. It is free and is open 24 hours a day. It has a 2-hour time limit, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot No. 8: The Pearl Alley Free Parking Lot
The Pearl Alley Parking Lot is located at the corner of Cedar and Lincoln Streets. It is free and is open 24 hours a day. It has a three hour time limit, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot No. 9: The Elm Street Free Parking Lot
The Elm Street Parking Lot is located at the corner of Cedar and Elm Streets. It is free and is open 24 hours a day. It has a three hour time limit, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot No. 10: River Street Garage
The River Street Garage is located between River Street and Front Street next to the Galleria Office Complex. The ground floor of this parking lot is no charge and is open 24-hours a day. This ground floor level has a three-hour time limit, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The garage has no time limits on Sundays. Permits are sold on the second and third level at a cost of $48 per quarter.
Lot No. 11: The Lower Front Street Free Parking Lot
The Lower Front Street Parking Lot is located on Front Street, just north of Laurel Street and next to the San Lorenzo River levee. It is free and is open 24 hours a day. It has a three hour time limit, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot 12: The Lower Pacific Avenue Free Parking Lot
The Lower Pacific Avenue Parking Lot is located on Pacific Avenue, just north of the Pacific Avenue and Elm Street intersection. It is free and open 24 hours a day. It has a three-hour time limit, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot 13: The City Hall Free Parking Lot
The City Hall Parking Lot is located next to the City Hall complex on the north side of Church Street, between Chestnut and Center Streets. It provides two-hour visitor parking and reserved employee parking. The two-hour time limit is in effect Monday-Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot 14: The Central Branch Library Parking Lot
The Central Branch Library lot is located on Locust Street (between Cedar and Center Streets), next to the Central Branch. It provides two-hour visitor and reserved employee parking. The two-hour time limit is in effect Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Lot 17: The Laurel Street Extension Permit Parking Lot
The Laurel Street Extension lot is located at the intersection of Spruce Street and Laurel Street Extension. It is a permit parking lot. Permits may be purchased for $72 per quarter from the Parking Office in the Locust Street Garage, 124 Locust Street, Santa Cruz, California.
Lot No. 20a: Laurel Street Permit Parking
The Laurel Street Permit Parking is located on Laurel between Pacific and Cedar Streets. Parking by permit only. Permits are available for $75 per quarter.
Lot No. 20b: The Birch Lane Permit Parking
The Birch Lane permit parking is located on Birch Lane between Pacific and Cedar Streets. Parking by permit only. Permits are available for $75 per quarter.
Lot 22: The Upper Front Street Free Parking Lot
The Upper Front Street lot is located on the east side of Front Street, across from the Metro Center. It is a private parking lot Monday-Friday. It is available to the public on Saturday with a 3-hour limit from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The lot is unlimited all day on Sundays.
Lot 23: The Front/Laurel Free Parking Lot
The Front/Laurel lot is located at the corner of Front and Laurel Streets. It has a three-hour time limit, enforced Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is unlimited all day on Sundays. A limited number of permits are sold for $75 per quarter.
