APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR CITY OF SANTA CRUZ
COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON HOMELESSNESS
Santa Cruz, CA (April 16, 2019) – The City of Santa Cruz seeks applicants for a new advisory committee on homelessness. The Community Advisory Committee on Homelessness (CACH) will provide a platform for the community to identify and explore causes and possible solutions to homelessness, as well as develop independent recommendations to address homeless issues. The City Council approved convening a homeless advisory committee at their April 9th meeting.
The preliminary objectives of the Committee’s work include leading a community engagement process and public outreach; synthesizing and analyzing community feedback; exploring short-term options for addressing the City’s unsheltered population; and developing different strategies for future City-wide policy changes.
The CACH will convene in late May or early June and will meet regularly through February 2020 at which time the committee will present its findings to the City Council. The committee will meet at least once per month.
Applications for CACH will be accepted until 5:00PM Monday, April 29, and can be found on the City’s website at cityofsantacruz.com/community/homelessness. Questions can be directed to Megan Bunch, at (831) 420-5017 or mbunch@cityofsantacruz.com.
The City of Santa Cruz is the county seat and largest city in Santa Cruz County. The City serves over 63,000 residents with full services including police, utility, waste, recreation, and library programs. Santa Cruz is a Charter City governed by a seven-member Council.
