Book discussion: What it’s Like to go to War

October 22, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

As part of the War Comes Home program, the Downtown Branch of the Santa Cruz Public Library presents an evening discussion. What is it like to go to war? What is it like to wait for a warrior to come home? How does the community help its veterans fit back into life when they return? Karl Marlantes’ book WHAT IT IS LIKE TO GO TO WAR reflects on these questions. Join a discussion with those who have served, those who have not served, and those who waited for people to come home. At this session, we will ask ourselves: How do we find the words to talk to each other? The discussion will be facilitated by Bob Kanegis and Liz Mangual in a safe open environment where everyone can be heard. Everyone is welcome. This event is part of a Cal Humanities War Comes Home initiative to spark conversations with our returning veterans.
