About the speakers
Rodrigo Valenzuela immigrated to the US from Chile and worked for years as a day laborer before becoming established as a professional artist. He uses landscapes and autobiographical threads to inform larger themes of alienation and displacement. His images feel at the same time familiar yet distant. Rodrigo’s work questions the ways in which the formation and experience of each work is situated—how they exist both in and out of place.
Your Allied Rapid Response (YARR) is works to resist and prevent actions that would harm fellow human beings. YARR intends to resist, support and bear witness for any of the community who are under attack, whether by federal policies or by hate groups.
Sanctuary Santa Cruz | Santuario Santa Cruz was formed by and for the Santa Cruz community to support those neighbors, friends and fellow-workers who face discrimination and harassment. In particular, Santuario Santa Cruz unite on behalf of immigrants and refugees who are, at this time, the most vulnerable community members.
