KNOW FISH Dinner® Santa Cruz
March 17 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Know your fishermen. Know your fish.
That’s the principle behind KNOW FISH Dinners®.
At a time when 90% of the seafood eaten in the US is imported, knowing where your seafood comes from, how and when it was harvested, and whether it’s local is now more important than ever.
Come join us on March 17 at 5 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Food Lounge to dine on delicious seafood caught the day before by one of the community fish harvesters working with Ocean2table, and hear O2T owners and fishermen Ian Cole and Charlie Lambert tell stories about how the seafood was caught, how it was processed and the direct link to your plates.
You’ll hear from Chef Diego Felix of Colectivo Felix about the importance of sourcing locally harvested seafood, and the other factors in chefs’ menu selection decisions.
Here’s your chance to learn more about the seafood you’re eating from the fishermen who harvested or distributed it and the chef who prepared it. There’s a lot of effort that goes into harvesting and distributing seafood. The more you know, the better informed you’ll be about why you should support local fishermen who care about the resource. And we all know fishermen tell great stories!
Learn about the changing “seascape” for domestic and global seafood from One Fish Foundation’s Colles Stowell, and why choosing local, responsibly harvested seafood matters.
