Growing Up in Santa Cruz presents Kids Day Downtown

The Downtown Association of Santa Cruz, in partnership with Growing up in Santa Cruzis excited to present the return of Kids Day Downtown, a day long festival of activities, events and entertainment just for kids.

The sidewalks of Downtown Santa Cruz will be filled with exhibitors, free activities, and entertainment, plus in store activities and specials throughout downtown at your favorite businesses.

Come experience a great sample of community groups with great youth programming. Education, sports, arts, science, dance, theater, and other offerings will be present with hands on activities all day.

The festival runs from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday March 24th.

ACTIVITIES AND EXHIBITS ON PACIFIC AVENUE (New Vendors Added Daily)

  • Adventure Sports Unlimited: We are a swim/ocean adventure school. We will have ocean related art activities and literature regarding our swim program and about healthy oceans!
  • Mount Madonna School: Come learn about Mount Madonna School and participate in our various crafts or activities throughout the day.
  • Happily Ever Laughter: Real Faeries!
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County: Great Futures, Great Fun! The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County will provide a variety of hands on activities and crafts that focus on healthy lifestyles, academic success and good character and citizenship.
  • Little Garden Patch Farm: We will have a simple craft and a seed planting activity for kids. As well as some literature for parents about our summer farm camp program at Little Garden Patch Farm for children (aged 5-8).
  • Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services: Information will be displayed regarding Jacob’s Heart children’s cancer support services and a bubble station set up for kids and their families to blow bubbles!
  • MusicalMe: Music Together! We will be having a teacher with drums for children to play and use.
  • Positive Discipline Community Resources: We will hand out various Positive Discipline parenting tip sheets in English and in Spanish. An interactive Wheel of Choice game (for social-emotional learning, self-regulation, and parent-child connection) will be set up for the kids and parents. We will also have fun stickers to give out to the kids!
  • Family Service Agency/Survivors Healing Center: My body belongs to me coloring books and materials for parents about having safety conversations with their children
  • YMCA of the Redwoods: We are a YMCA Camp facility in Boulder Creek that offers Health/Wellness & Aquatics programs. Come learn about our day and overnight camping programs!
  • Santa Cruz Children’s Museum of Discovery: Join us for a variety of arts and crafts activities including bicycle spin art!
  • City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation: Fun Summer Camp Crafts!
  • Hospice of Santa Cruz County: Grief Support for Youth, Hospice of Santa Cruz County- Write the name of your loved one on a ribbon and place it on a wreath or tree.
  • Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County: Healthy food for kids! We will be handing out fresh apples, have a station for coloring pictures of healthy food and playing with fake fruits and veggies. We will also have a prize wheel, with prizes for kids who answer questions about healthy eating! We will have a representative available to talk to families regarding CalFresh benefits.
  • Santa Cruz Warriors: Mini Basketball Hoop
  • Stars Therapy Services: Stars Therapy Services does fully developmental assessments for children 0-3. We also provide OT, PT SLP, ABA and Early Intervention. We will have a coloring activity and raffle for the children who participate in the coloring activity.The raffle we will be held every hour!
  • Ready Set Glow Party: Glow and the dark booth!
  • Be Natural Music: Music School!
  • Santa Cruz Public Libraries: We will have a kids craft and share information about our free programs for kids, including our popular summer reading program! Find out what the library can offer your family.
  • Encompass Community Services Head Start: Head Start/Early Head Start interaction
  • Farm Fresh To You: We will be distributing information on the importance of sustainable farming and seek customers for our organic produce delivery service.
  • Nature-Based Ongoing Group (NBOG) will have pictures, literature, individual and small group games and activities, and conversations with families staffing our booth that highlight our outdoor home-school program.
